Email-to-Fax

How to Fax From Your Email

Sometimes you're already in your email and don't want to switch apps. We get it. AvoFax's email-to-fax feature lets you send a fax by composing a regular email — attach the document, address it to the fax number, and your fax is on its way.

Estimated time: 2 minutes · 3 steps

1

Set up your AvoFax account

If you haven't already, sign up at avofax.com. Your account comes with a dedicated fax number and email-to-fax capabilities. Make sure the email address you plan to send from is registered on your AvoFax account — this is how we verify it's really you.

Tip: You can add multiple verified email addresses to your account under Settings if you fax from different inboxes.

Compose an email addressed to the fax number

Open your email client (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail — anything works) and compose a new message. In the To field, enter the recipient's fax number followed by @fax.avofax.com. For example, to fax 212-555-1234, you'd address it to [email protected]. Attach your PDF or document file.

Tip: The email subject line becomes the cover page title. Keep it short and professional.

3

Send and receive confirmation

Hit send on your email. AvoFax picks up the message, converts the attachment to fax format, and transmits it. You'll receive a delivery confirmation email within a few minutes letting you know whether the fax went through or if there was an issue.

Common Questions

Which email providers work with email-to-fax?

Any email provider works — Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Apple Mail, ProtonMail, or your company's email server. As long as you can send an email with an attachment, you can fax.

Can I send multiple attachments in one email?

Yes. All attachments in a single email are merged into one fax in the order they appear. Supported formats include PDF, Word, JPEG, PNG, and TIFF.

Is email-to-fax secure?

AvoFax processes your email over encrypted connections and transmits the fax using T.38 protocol. For highly sensitive documents like medical records, we recommend using the AvoFax app directly for end-to-end control.

What happens if I send from an unverified email address?

The fax won't be sent. AvoFax requires the sender email to match a verified address on your account. This prevents unauthorized people from faxing on your behalf.

Does the email body text appear on the fax?

The email body is used as the cover page message. If you leave the body blank, AvoFax sends just the attached documents without a cover page.
